ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's stock exchange dropped 0.44 percent, or 509.32 points, to open at 115,687.22 points on Wednesday.
Among all sector indices, the information technology index posted the best performance, up 0.78 percent, while the banking index was the worst.
The BIST banking index and the BIST holding index decreased by 1.39 percent and 0.71 percent, respectively.
On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed at 116,196.54, decreasing by 0.19 percent, with a 6.9 billion-Turkish lira ($1.73 billion) trade volume.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange increased to 3.9950 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday. It was 3.9790 at Tuesday's close.
The euro/lira exchange rate rose to 4.9580. It was 4.9370 at Tuesday's close.
The price of Brent oil was $69.00 per barrel as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
