ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's stock exchange fell 0.27 percent, or 302.10 points, to open at 110,630.37 points on Tuesday.
The BIST banking and holding sector indices slipped by 1.37 percent and 0.04 percent, respectively.
Among all sector indices, the telecommunication index posted the best performance, up 1.99 percent while the banking sector index started the day with the biggest loss.
There were no transactions on Monday due to Turkey’s National Sovereignty and Children’s Day. On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed at 110,932.48, down 1.06 percent, with a 6.1 billion-Turkish lira (nearly $1.5 billion) trade volume.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange climbed to 4.0890 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday. It was 4.0580 at Friday's close.
The euro/lira exchange rate rose to 4.9980, compared with Friday's close of 4.9780.
The price of Brent oil was $75.13 per barrel as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Tuesday.
