ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index fell by 0.14% or 131.35 points to open at 95,821.42 points on Wednesday after a national holiday on Tuesday when Turkish markets were closed.
On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped by 0.94% to close the day at 95,952.77 points with a daily trading volume of 2.32 billion Turkish liras ($398 million).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.8750 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to Monday's closing rate of 5.8330.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 6.5870, versus 6.5670 at the previous close.
One British pound traded for 7.6110 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.5740 at market close on Monday.
The price of Brent oil was around $74.10 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Wednesday.
