ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index fell 148.37 points to open at 77,009.42 on Tuesday in its first transactions.
On the second opening session of the week, the country's benchmark index started with a 0.19 percent decline.
The banking and holding sector indexes decreased by 0.21 and 0.28 percent, respectively. The textile and leather sector index rose the most, by 0.1 percent, while the tourism index saw the biggest drop, 0.98 percent, in initial transactions.
Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell slightly to stand at 3.5210 at 10 a.m. (0700GMT) Tuesday, compared to 3.5030 at Monday's close.
Analysts said investors will follow the Turkish Central Bank's decision on interest rates after its Monetary Policy Committee Meeting on Tuesday and externally the Bank of Japan's decisions.
