ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index started Friday at 118,500.81 points, down 0.45%, or 530.35 points.
At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.81% at 119,031.16 points with a daily trading volume of 20.2 billion Turkish liras ($3 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.8470 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to 6.8480 at the previous close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.9500 from 7.9320, while British pound traded for 8.7220 Turkish liras, down from 8.7840.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $43.20 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
On Monday, Borsa Istanbul will remove two zeros from its indices -- including BIST 100 and BIST 30. And the evening session on Friday, July 24 will not be held.
