ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index ended the day up 1.54% points to close at 105,379.71 points on Friday.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 104,474.89 points. As of daily close, it gained 1,600 points from Thursday’s close of 103,780.58 points.
During the last day of trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 104,408.95 points and 105,070.04 points -- 87stocks on the index rose, 9 fell and nine remained flat compared to the previous close.
Closing the day with a market value of nearly 716 billion Turkish liras ($124 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 7.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).
By market capitalization, Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding, private lenders Garanti BBVA and Akbank were the top companies of BIST 100.
The shares of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti BBVA and aviation company Pegasus posted the highest trading volumes.
Shares of conglomerate Ihlas Holding performed the best, rising by 8.62%, as stocks of conglomerate Metro did the worst with a 19.91% drop.
An ounce of gold sold for $1,465.65 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,469.65 at the previous close.
The price of Brent oil was around $62.53 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Friday.
