ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the week up 0.02% or 19.2 points to open at 96,737.68 points on Monday.
On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 0.84% to close the week at 96,714.48 points with a daily trading volume of 6.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.1 billion).
The market was closed on Friday due to the national holiday of Victory Day.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.8300 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday -- down from 5.8320 compared to Thursday's close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.4100, versus 6.4540, and one British pound traded for 7.1120 Turkish liras, compared to 7.1030, on the last close.
One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $59.15 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
Investors will focus on Turkey's second quarter GDP figures due to be announced later in the day.
