ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index fell 34.73 points at Monday's close to 103,118.48 points.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 102,921.71 points. As of the close, it had lost 34.73 points from Friday's close of 103,153.20 points.
During the start of the week's trading, the index's lowest level was 102,368.94 points and the highest was 103,090.81 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 698 billion Turkish liras ($121 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 7.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).
On Monday, 50 stocks on the index rose and 36 fell compared to Friday.
The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, petrochemical company Petkim, and mining company Koza Madencilik.
Automotive company Dogus Otomotiv was the best performer on Monday, with its shares up 5.06%, while stocks of automotive parts manufacturer Ege Endustri dropped the most, down 4.26%.
The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,465.30 by market close, down from $1,460.30 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $62.61 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Monday.
