ISTANBUL (AA) – The Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index opened Tuesday at 87,740.99 points, down 0.03 percent or 24.43 points from the previous close.
The banking sector index was up 0.03 percent while the holding sector index declined 0.20 percent.
The best-performing shares were from the sports sector, up 1.75 percent, while the worst performer was trade, down 0.69 percent.
On Monday, the BIST 100 index fell by 0.56 percent to reach 87,765.41, with a total trading volume of 2.7 billion Turkish liras (approximately $751 million).
The U.S. dollar versus the Turkish lira rate was up to 3.6020 at the market opening at 0630GMT compared with Monday’s market close of 3.5950.
Gold held at $1,253.61 an ounce.
