ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s BIST 100 index increased by 158.23 points to open at 88,416.68 points on Monday.
On the first trading day of the week, the benchmark index rose by 0.18 percent while the banking and holding sector indices advanced 0.21 percent and 0.19 percent, respectively.
Among the sub-indices, the tourism sector increased the most, by 0.83 percent. The sports index saw the biggest drop, 0.27 percent, in initial transactions.
At Friday's closing session, the benchmark index was down 0.99 percent -- decreasing 879.93 points -- to 88,258.45 points with a total trading volume of 3.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.06 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was slightly up to 3.5970 at 09.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, compared with 3.5940 at Friday's close.
Gold held at $1,256.85 an ounce.
