ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day with a 70.30-point or 0.06 percent increase to open at 109,224.21 points on Friday.
The banking and holding sector indices rose 0.05 and 0.04 percent, respectively.
Among all sectors, the transportation sector index was the best performer, up 0.85 percent, while the sports sector index started the day with the biggest fall, losing 0.15 percent.
At Thursday's close, the BIST 100 was up 201.18 points or 0.18 percent to reach 109,153.91 points, with a total trading volume of 5.2 billion Turkish lira (nearly $1.5 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose slightly to 3.4840 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Friday, compared with 3.4810 at Thursday’s close.
