ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index surged 123.66 points to open at 77,959.52 points on Friday.
On the last trading day of the week, the benchmark index rose by 0.16 percent while the banking and holding sector indices advanced 0.26 and 0.05 percent, respectively.
Among the sub-indices, the tourism sector increased the most, by 0.83 percent. The information technology index saw the biggest drop, 0.07 percent, in initial transactions.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate went slightly down to 3.5210 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Friday, compared with 3.5290 at Thursday's close.
Gold held at $1,159.84 an ounce.
U.S. crude futures rose by 0.41 percent to $53.99 a barrel, while benchmark Brent crude futures increased by 0.53 percent to $57.15.
