ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark stock index started the week with a 404.24-point rise to open at 94,332.63 points on Monday.
The BIST 100 rose by 0.43 percent with the banking and holding sector indices up 0.53 percent and 0.34 percent, respectively.
The real estate investment trust sector index was the best performer -- up by 0.74 percent -- while the sports index saw the biggest drop, falling by 0.76 percent.
At the close on Friday, the BIST 100 was up 889.90 points or by 0.96 percent to reach 93,928.39 points, with a total trading volume of 5 billion Turkish liras ($1.41 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 3.5340 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, compared with 3.55200 at Friday’s close.
