ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark index started the day with a 414.62-point increase to hit a new historical record of 94,217.43 points on Tuesday.
On the second transaction day of the week, the BIST 100 index rose by 0.44 percent.
The banking and holding sector indexes went up by 0.40 percent and 0.57 percent, respectively.
The tourism sector index was the best performer -- up 3.36 percent -- while the only sub-index seeing a loss was the information technology sector, down 0.24 percent from the last close.
The BIST 100 was up 1,378.88 points or 1.49 percent to reach 93,178.87 -- an all-time high -- with a total trading volume of 4.9 billion Turkish liras (approximately $1.36 million) at the close on Monday.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rata decreased to 3.5760 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Tuesday, compared with 3.5920 at Monday’s close.
