Turkey's Borsa Istanbul jumps 108 points at open

BIST 100 index up by 0.09% from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index started the week at 114,776.42 points on Monday, up by 0.09%, or 108 points.

At Friday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.46% at 114,668.41 points with a record daily trading volume of 15 billion Turkish liras ($2.1 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.8540 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to 6.8560 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.7220 from 7.6810 and one British pound traded for 8.5100 Turkish liras, up from 8.5070 at the last week's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $40.40 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
