ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,484.83 points on Monday, rising 0.55% or 8.11 points from the previous close.
At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down at 1,476.72 points, with a daily trading volume of 27.8 billion Turkish liras ($3.7 billion).
On Friday, the stock market was closed due to the New Year's Day holiday.
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 7.3800 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 7.4310 at the previous close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate fell slightly to 9.0350 from 9.1200, while one British pound traded for 10.1100 Turkish liras, down from 10.1810.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $53.02 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
