ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark index started the day with a 52.05-point decrease to open at 88,134.81 on Friday.
During the first transactions of the day, the BIST 100 index fell by 0.06 percent while the banking and holding sector indices declined by 0.04 and 0.12 percent, respectively.
Among all sectors, the sports index was the best performer -- 0.92 percent -- while the construction sector started Friday with the largest decline, falling 0.52 percent.
At Thursday's closing session, the benchmark index was up 0.41 percent -- increasing 304 points -- to 88,246.07 points with a total trading volume of 3.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.01 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 3.6613 at 10.15 a.m. local time (0715GMT) on Friday, compared with 3.6705 at Thursday's close.
