ANKARA (AA) - The Borsa Istanbul index started on Tuesday with a 203.05-point drop to open at 87,154.80.
The BIST 100 benchmark index decreased by 0.23 percent during the day’s first transactions.
The banking and holding sector indices were down 0.14 and 0.41 percent, respectively.
Turkey’s sports sector was the best performer among sub-indices -- 1.08 percent -- while the communication index fell the most, declining by 0.50 percent.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased slightly to 3.7060 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, compared with 3.6880 at Monday's close.
Gold held at $1,233.14 an ounce while the international benchmark Brent crude was at $55.85 a barrel -- a 1.7 percent decline.
