ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index, the BIST 100, rose 576.37 points or 0.51 percent to open at 112,848.23 points on Wednesday.
The banking and holding indices were up 0.51 and 0.26 percent, respectively.
Among all sector indices, the textile leather sector index showed the best performance, up 1.36 percent, while the wholesale and retail trade sector index saw the biggest decline, falling 0.08 percent.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.8750 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630 GMT) Wednesday, compared with Tuesday's close at 3.8630.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 4.4920 from 4,4690 at close on Tuesday.
Brent crude oil dropped slightly to $63.37 per barrel at 9.00 a.m. local time (0600 GMT) compared to $62.71 at Tuesday's close.
Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day with a decrease of 1.66 percent or 1,893.81 points at 112,271.86 points with a trade volume of 7.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.97 billion) on Tuesday.
