Turkey's Borsa Istanbul starts midweek 0.15% up

BIST 100 index rises nearly 150 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.15% or 148.58 points on Wednesday to start the day at 98,886.10 points.

At Tuesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.11% at 98,737.52 points, with a daily trading volume of 10.1 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.0940 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, versus 7.0790 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate slipped to 7.6790, compared to 7.6970, and one British pound traded for 8.8390 Turkish liras, versus 8.8410 on Tuesday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $31.00 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
