Turkey's Borsa Istanbul starts midweek flat

BIST 100 index up 33 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.03% or 33.19 points on Wednesday to start the day at 99,649.07 points.

At Tuesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 1.86% to 99,615.88 points, with a daily trading volume of 12.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.8 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 6.9930 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, versus 6.9940 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 7.5870 from 7.6070, while one British pound traded for 8.6160 Turkish liras, down slightly from 8.6580 at Tuesday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $29.58 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
