Turkey's Borsa Istanbul starts Tuesday up

BIST 100 index rises by around 4.76 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,101.56 points on Tuesday, up 0.43% or 4.76 points from the previous close.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.97% at 1,096.81 points, with a daily trading volume of 11.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 7.4630 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to 7.4640 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also fell to 8.8220 from 8.8240, while one British pound traded for 9.8370 Turkish liras, down from 9.8430.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $41.89 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
