ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the week down 1.54% or 1,500.1 points to open at 95,648.94 points on Monday.
On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 1.84% to close the week at 97,149.04 points with a daily trading volume of 6.1 billion Turkish liras ($1 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.8130 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday -- up from 5.7670 compared to Friday's close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.4850, versus 6.3860, and one British pound traded for 6.1520 Turkish liras, compared to 7.0660.
One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $58.60 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
