Turkey's Borsa Istanbul starts week looking up

BIST 100 index climbs 0.30 pct compared to Friday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.30 percent or 278.10 points to open at 92,138.85 points on Monday.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed slightly 0.01 percent to close the day at 91,860.75 points with a daily trading volume of 5.4 billion Turkish liras ($1.02 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased slightly to 5.3120 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with last week's closing rate of 5.3010.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 6.0530, versus 6.0630 at the last close. One British pound traded for 6.7400 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 6.7140 by market close on Friday.

The price of Brent oil rose to $54.50 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Monday, versus $53.80 at Friday's closing.
