ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the week up 2.15% or 2,017.22 points to open at 96,039.50 points on Monday.
On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 0.14% to close the week at 94,022.28 points with a daily trading volume of 5.84 billion Turkish liras ($1 billion).
Last week, the benchmark index posted a 3.56% hike. At the beginning of this year, the BIST 100 hovered around 89,000 points.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.7250 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, down from 5.8140 at Friday's close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6,5230, versus 6.5880, and one British pound traded for 7.3240 Turkish liras, compared to 7.3730.
One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $64.84 as of 9.50 a.m. local time (0650GMT) on Monday.
