Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up 1.16% at open

BIST 100 index increases over 1,000 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 1.16% or 1,030.91 points on Thursday to start the day at 90,116.05 points.

At Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.62% at 89,085.13 points, with a daily trading volume of 10.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.6 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 6.6500 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, versus 6.6810 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also diminished to 7.2820, compared to 7.2980, and one British pound traded for 8.2750 Turkish liras, versus 8.3250 at Thursday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $27.61 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Thursday.
