ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's stock exchange rose by 1 percent, or 947.86 points, to open at 95,695.39 points on Friday.
On the last transaction day of the week, the banking and holding sector indices gained 2.25 percent and 0.62 percent, respectively.
While all sector indices started the day on the rise, the BIST banking index was the top gainer.
On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 closed at 94,747.53, up 0.32 percent, or 306.84 points, with a trading volume of 7.1 billion Turkish liras (around $1.2 billion).
The USD/TRY exchange fell to 5.8980 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, compared to 5.9930 at the previous close.
The EURO/TRY exchange also dropped to 6.8320 by market open, versus 6.9350 at the previous close, while one British pound traded for 7.8010 Turkish liras -- from 7.9370 on Thursday's close.
The price of Brent oil stood at $81.36 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Friday, starting the day at $80.34, while it was around $66 at the beginning of this year.
