ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark index closed the day up 193.96 points Wednesday to stand at 97,541.58 points.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased 0.20 percent with a total trading volume of 6.6 billion Turkish liras (approximately $1.867 billion).
The banking sector index surged 0.78 percent, while holding index fell 0.05 percent.
Among all indices, the informatics sector was the best performer, up 3.19 percent, while tourism index was the worst -- down 2.02 percent.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 3.5390 Turkish liras as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Wednesday, down from 3.5520 Turkish liras at Tuesday's close.
Borsa Istanbul's Gold Exchange index rose 0.28 percent, while the price of gold per kilogram decreased to 143,800 Turkish liras (around $40,718) as of 4.30 p.m. (1330GMT).
