ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index increased 0.43 percent to close Tuesday at 94,408.109 points with a trading volume of around 6.1 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index ended the day with a 399.90 point increase from Monday's close of 94,008.29 points, while it opened the day at 94,077.94 points.
The BIST banking index increased by 0.84 percent and the BIST holding index decreased by 0.49 percent.
Among all sectors, the mining sector index was the best performer, rising 3.39 percent, while the food beverage index was the sole sector to see a decline, down 1.79 percent.
The USD/TRY exchange rate decreased to 4.6420 as of 5 p.m. local time (1400GMT) Tuesday, down from 4.6850 at Monday's close.
The euro/lira exchange rate decreased to 5.4110 by market close, versus 5.4730 at the previous close, while the British pound/lira exchange rate stood at 6.1585, compared with 6.2350 at Monday's close.
The BIST Gold Exchange index ended the day with a 1.08 percent decrease. In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, one ounce of gold traded for $1,256.45 as of 4.30 p.m. local time (1330GMT) Tuesday, compared with $1,270.15 at Monday's close.
As of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT), the price of Brent oil stood at $74.54 per barrel.
