Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at Friday opening

BIST 100 index increases 1.86 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,100.93 points Friday, up 1.86 points or 0.17% from the previous close.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index ended the day down 0.06% to close at 1,099.06 points, with a daily trading volume of 19.7 billion Turkish liras ($2.6 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.4640 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), up from Thursday's closing rate of 7.4280.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 8.8320, versus 8.8410, and one British pound traded for 9.5860 Turkish liras. It was 9.6800 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $39.85 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Friday.
