Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at midweek open

BIST 100 index gains over 4 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,420.82 points on Wednesday, rising 0.32% or 4.58 points from the previous close.

At Tuesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 0.34% to close at 1,401.52 points, with a daily trading volume of 18.06 billion Turkish liras ($2.17 billion).

One US dollar traded for 8.3500 Turkish liras as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), up from 8.3120 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 10.0300, versus 9.9890 a day before, while one British pound traded for 11.6300 Turkish liras, rising from 11.5480.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $69.42 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
