ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's stock exchange climbed 0.55 percent, or 549.36 points, to open at 100,096.80 points on Tuesday.
The BIST banking and holding sector indices rose 1.32 percent and 0.27 percent, respectively.
Among all sector indices, the banking sector index posted the best performance, while the sports sector index was the sole sector on decline, losing 0.07 percent.
On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 closed at 99,547.44, up 1.59 percent, or 1,559.28 points, with a trading volume of 10.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.7 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange dropped to 6.0920 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday. It was 6.1590 at Monday's close.
The euro/lira exchange rate also fell to 7.1660 by market open -- from 7.2780 at the previous close.
The GBP/TRY exchange rate was 8.0120 on Tuesday, while one British pound traded for 8.1170 Turkish liras at the previous close.
The price of Brent oil stood at $80.82 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Tuesday, compared to $80.53 on Monday.
