ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.26% or 249.30 points to start Tuesday at 97.350,59 points.
On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index decreased slightly by 0.05% to close the day at 97,101.30 points with a daily trading volume of 5.8 billion Turkish liras ($1 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.8340 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday compared to 5.7960 at Monday's close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 6.4800, versus 6.4450, and one British pound traded for 7.1450 Turkish liras, while it was 7.0930 at the previous close.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $58.50 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Tuesday.
