ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index rose 151.79 points to open at 77,741.44 on Monday in its first transactions.
On the first opening session of the week, the country's benchmark index started with a 0.2 percent increase.
The banking and holding sector indices advanced 0.27 and 0.19 percent, respectively. The mining sector index rose the most, by 1.04 percent, while the sports index saw the biggest drop, 0.58 percent, in initial transactions.
Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell slightly to stand at 3.4957 at 10 a.m. (0700GMT) Monday, compared to 3.5030 at Friday's close.
Analysts said investors would follow the Turkish Central Bank's decision on interest rates after its Monetary Policy Committee Meeting on Tuesday.
