ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index rose 180.79 points to open at 77,988.68 on Wednesday in its first transactions.
On the third opening session of the week, the country's benchmark index started with a 0.23 percent increase.
The banking and holding sector indices advanced 0.32 and 0.15 percent, respectively. The investment trusts sector index rose the most, by 0.97 percent, while the communication index saw the biggest drop, 0.11 percent, in initial transactions.
Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to stand at 3.5170 at 10 a.m. (0700GMT) Wednesday, compared to 3.5240 at Tuesday's close.
Gold held at $1,135.94 an ounce.
U.S. crude futures were up 0.47 percent at $53.55 a barrel, while benchmark Brent crude futures added 0.43 percent to $55.59.
