ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day with a 198.92-point or 0.20 percent increase to open at 100,639.31 points on Monday.
The banking and holding sector indices rose by 0.24 and 0.10 percent, respectively.
Among all sectors, the mining sector was the best performer -- up 0.97 percent -- while the insurance index suffered the biggest decline, down 0.31 percent.
On Friday's close, the BIST 100 was up 250.08 points or 0.25 percent to reach 100,440.39 points, with a total trading volume of 4.1 billion Turkish liras (approximately $1.16 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 3.5250 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Monday, compared with 3.5170 at Friday’s close.
