ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day with a 211.27-point or 0.20 percent increase to open at 104,421.49 points on Friday.
The banking and holding sector indices rose by 0.26 and 0.15 percent, respectively.
Among all sectors, the mining sector index was the best performer with a 2.47 percent rise, while the insurance sector index started the day with the biggest decline, falling by 1.03 percent.
On Thursday's close, the BIST 100 was up 400.44 points or 0.39 percent to reach 104,210.22 points, with a total trading volume of 5 billion Turkish liras (approximately $1.4 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange stood at 3.5680 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Friday.
