ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day with a 195.81-point or 0.18 percent increase to open at 106,343.24 points on Wednesday.
The banking and holding sector indices rose by 0.16 and 0.26 percent, respectively.
Among all sectors, the tourism sector index was the best performer with a 0.64-percent rise, while the investment trusts sector started the day with the biggest decline, falling by 0.27 percent.
On Tuesday's close, the BIST 100 was down 1,384.01 points or 1.29 percent to reach 106,147.43 points, with a total trading volume of five billion Turkish liras (nearly $1.42 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 3.5300 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Wednesday, compared with 3.5150 at Tuesday’s close.
