ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark stock index, BIST 100, rose 338.64 points on Tuesday to open at 110,349.12 points.
On the first day of a shortened trading week due to the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index rose 0.31 percent.
The banking and holding sector indices increased by 0.47 and 0.25 percent, respectively.
Among all sectors, the sport index was the best performer with a 0.89 percent rise, while the wholesale and retail trade index started the day with the biggest decline, falling by 0.40 percent.
The market closed at 110,010.49 points on Thursday -- last week’s final trading day -- after falling 0.37 percent during the day.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 3.4370 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Tuesday, compared to 3.4620 at Thursday's close.
Turkey's annual inflation rate stood at 10.68 percent in August, while consumer prices rose by 0.89 points yearly, up from 9.79 percent in July, the Turkish Statistical Institute announced Tuesday.
