ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's stock exchange increased 0.37 percent, or 335,15 points, to open at 92,021.50 points on Wednesday.
The BIST banking and holding sector indices went up 0.66 percent and 0.45 percent, respectively.
Among all sector indices, the transportation sector index posted the best performance, up 1.21 percent, while the wholesale and retail trade sector was the worst, down 0.51 percent.
On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 closed at 91,686.35, down 3.05 percent or 2,884.55 points, with a trading volume of 6.74 billion Turkish liras ($1.26 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.3910 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday. It was 5.3650 at Tuesday's close.
The euro/lira exchange rate increased to 6.1390 by market open -- up from 6.1250 at the previous close -- and one British pound traded for 6.9150 Turkish liras versus 6.8970 at the previous close.
The price of Brent oil increased to $63.29 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Wednesday. It was $62.53 on Tuesday.
