ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,574.58 points on Thursday, up 0.62% or 9.64 points from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was up 1.02% to end Wednesday at 1,564.94 points, with a daily trading volume of 26.4 billion Turkish liras (nearly $3.5 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 7.4900 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), from 7.5360 at the previous close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 8.9290, down from 8.9750, while one British pound traded for 10.3500 Turkish liras, dropping from 10.4400.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $68.30 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
