ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's hen egg production rose by 2.6% to reach 1.7 billion units year-on-year in March, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced on Monday.
Meanwhile, the country's chicken meat production dropped 5.7% to 175,327 tons in March, compared with the same month in 2018.
TurkStat said turkey meat production also decreased by 18.9% to 4,341 tons in March, compared with the same month last year.
During the third month of 2019, 100 million chickens and 421,000 turkeys were slaughtered, down 4.6% and 19.4%, respectively, on a yearly basis.
Last year, the country produced 2.16 million tons of chicken meat, 69,500 tons of turkey meat, and 19.6 billion hen eggs.
