ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's chicken meat production rose 7.1 percent to nearly 166,000 tons year-on-year in September, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced on Tuesday.
Turkey meat production also jumped by 30.5 percent to around 5,900 tons in September, compared with the same month of the previous year, according to TurkStat.
In September, 94 million chicken and 557,000 turkey were slaughtered, up 7.4 percent and 30.7 percent versus the same month 2017, respectively.
Hen egg production -- 1.6 billion units -- increased by 1.1 percent in the month, compared with September 2017.
Meanwhile, Turkey's red meat production rose 0.4 percent to 339,379 tons year-on-year in the third quarter of 2018, TurkStat announced on Monday.
