ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's red meat production rose 0.4 percent to 339,379 tons in the third quarter of the current year, compared with the same period last year, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced on Monday.
During the quarter, when the Muslim festival of Eid-ul-Adha was celebrated, red meat production also jumped by 27.4 percent versus the previous quarter, TurkStat noted.
The red meat production consisted of cattle (306,638 tons), sheep (28,539 tons), goat (4,167 tons) and buffalo meat (35 tons), TurkStat said.
Between January to September, the country's red meat production reached 859,023 tons, up from some 830,000 tons in the same period in 2017.
The country produced a total of 1.13 million tons of red meat was produced in 2017.
