Turkey's stock exchange hits further record value

Turkish shares rise 0.21 percent as US dollar/Turkish lira rate rose to 3.5290

ANKARA (AA) - The Istanbul stock market reached another record high on Tuesday, rising 228.56 points to open at 110,009.69 points.

The BIST 100 rose by 0.21 percent to record its peak since opening in April 2013.

The banking and holding sectors rose 0.28 percent and 0.11 percent respectively.

Across all sectors, mining performed best, up 1.95 percent, while the only decrease was seen in the food and beverage index, which fell 0.01 percent.

The market reached 109,781.13 points at Monday’s close and the day saw total trading volume of 5.4 billion Turkish liras ($1.52 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 3.5290 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, compared to 3.5260 at Monday’s close.
