ANKARA (AA) - Amid broad losses in world markets due in part to U.S. political turmoil, Turkey's benchmark stock index dropped 0.30 percent or 546.88 points to open at 90,980.02 points on Tuesday.
On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 0.36 percent to close the day at 91,526.90 points with a daily trading volume of 3.1 billion Turkish liras ($592.9 million).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate climbed to 5.3190 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Monday's closing rate of 5.2950.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose slightly to 6.0780, versus 6.0520 at the last close.
One British pound traded for 6.7590 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 6.7290 by market close on Monday.
The price of Brent oil dropped 3.4 percent to $50.73 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Tuesday, versus $54.1 at Monday's close.
