ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's state-run Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) on Friday dispatched 63 honey extraction machines to beekeepers in northern Syria.

A new project was implemented to increase the agricultural production capacity in the safe zone of the Euphrates Shield Operation in northern Syria, according to a statement from TIKA.

The project, carried out in collaboration with the Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry in southeastern Kilis province and the local council in the city’s Cobanbey district, aims to support rural development.

"Supporting honey production is important due to its nutritious qualities. It will create direct benefits for both producers and consumers," said Ismet Abbas, head of the local council.

The aim is to obtain honey in a healthier way and deliver it to the market with minimal loss via the modern honey extraction machines.

This is expected to contribute to an increase in local production and expansion of the honey market in the region.
