ANKARA (AA) - The Turkish state aid agency has helped 150 Kenyan households affected by a dam explosion, the agency said Tuesday.
Last month, at least 45 people were killed after Patel Dam in the town of Nakuru burst as a result of heavy rains that have been pounding the region.
The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) in a statement said that it had distributed hygiene kits and blankets in the area.
TIKA also distributed food packages to 100 families in Nakuru County, in western Kenya under the scope of a project set for marginalized women.
According to the UN World Food Program, about 2.6 million people in Kenya suffer from acute food insecurity and malnutrition.
