ANKARA (AA) – The Turkish Air Force is providing security for the NATO summit in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, the country’s National Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
Two aircraft of the Air Force Command have been assigned to gurad the NATO summit, which Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is attending alongside National Defense Minister Yasar Guler, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin, and Communications Director Fahrettin Altun.
Ahead of the summit, an Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aircraft and a KC-135R Tanker arrived at the German base in Geilenkirchen.
The aircraft will carry out surveillance flights and refueling missions in accordance with the NATO Allied Air Command's air mission order until the summit concludes on Wednesday.
