Turkish benchmark stock index opens Wednesday higher

BIST 100 rises around 45 points at opening session

ANKARA (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 7,716.07 points, rising 0.59% or 45.02 points from the previous close.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed at 7,671.05 points, a surge of 1.36%, with a daily trading volume of 79.7 billion liras ($2.78 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 28.6670 as of 09.55 am local time (0655GMT), while the euro/lira rate was at 31.1742, and a British pound traded for 35.7962 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $82.94 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,973.05.
